Christmas 2015

Steam Punk:
"A subgenre of science fiction that incorporates technology and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery." --Wikipedia

The Christmas Card this year was inspired by Karen's idea of decorating our tree in Steam Punk ornaments. This is the first year I've ever been even remotely interested in helping decorate the tree. Thus, a family ornament making day was executed with all of us using Sculpey clay to make our own ornaments. We stamped gears and keys and other things into the clay. After it was baked Karen painted each one. Click the image here to see a few ornaments.

Our Family photo seen here and in our printed greeting was taken for the church directory. Click the images in this frame to see larger versions.

Since our last (completed) Christmas website I've acquired another job. I'm teaching part time at Atwater Elementary and Holy Trinity in Winsted. It's such a great combination that I'd find it difficult to choose a favorite.

Karen still works at St. Philip's Church and we both stay busy chasing to our kids school and community events and activities.

Drew is in 11th grade and is taking a couple college level courses. With those and his swimming and tennis events, he keeps moving. We're very proud of him.

Theo is in 9th grade. It surprised us to see Theo's name in the paper under the A honor roll. We have to write about it here because it may be the only time we have that opportunity.

School always comes easy to Anissa, our little book worm. She joined the swim team this year and is one of eight 7th graders on the team.

Therese continues to fill our house with song and laughter. Seldom is she not smiling. She's enjoying her last year at St. Philip's elementary and is already talking about next year at the middle school. She continues to be our social butterfly and always has a new social engagement in her sights.

Quinn is our little introvert and would spend all her time quietly playing at home if we let her. She will be making her First Communion this spring. Last week (after being home sick for a day) Quinn told me she hoped she could go to school because "it's not boring". (Being at home without her 4 siblings is quite a culture shock.)

2015 held the demise of the little white Geo. The frame under the front wheel rusted away. I welded it up after a marginal repair by a "professional" but made the mistake of showing Karen a picture of the before and after. She was adamant that we get something better and ditch the "deathtrap". She said my life was worth more than saving $ on a 23 year old car. It was nice to hear such sentiment so I went to Iowa and picked up a Mazda 3 for $3000 less than I could find it here.

We wish you all the best Christmas ever and a Phenomenal New Year!
