Pixel Art

After experiencing the original Pixel Grid assignment, students are given a chance to advance their grid drawing skills by using a grid with diagonal lines which allow them to make cubical (Isometric) 3-D images.

Isometric images are shown as a preview to this project.

Students review how images on a computer screen are drawn with pixels. A photoshop file is shown at 100 percent so the image is understandable. Then the image is enlarged more and more until individual pixels can be seen.

Students are shown how to draw 3-D images using the given grid paper. The teacher starts with a profile view of an object like a car or building, then adds diagonal lines to make the object look 3-d.

Students are given Advanced Grid sheets that they use to make their own pixel drawings.
