Cartoon Painting

Students are shown a variety of cartoon characters for inspiration. Special note is made of how the characters are colored and the thickness of lines used in each illustration.

Students are to draw a cartoon character (can be existing character or one of their own making) and then use paints to give the drawing color and three-dimensionality.

A quick lesson on Copyright is discussed and how copying another artwork may be good to learn how the work was made, it's always better to be creative and come up with their own ideas.

After the paint dries, sharpie marker is used to "ink" over the drawing's pencil lines.
