International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards

  • 1. Empowered Learner -- Students leverage technology to an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goal, informed by the learning sciences.

    Students are introduced to resin casting through a couple videos of production resin casting and fiberglass manufacturing:

    Mold Thickness Resin Catalyst
    Eighth to Quarter inch 1 Tablespoon 6 drops
    Quarter to Half inch 1 Tablespoon 4 drops
    Half Inch and over 1 Tablespoon 2 drops
    Mold release is used and Neatness is emphasized in how they pour the resin and clean up.

    How to embed objects is also discussed and demonstrated.

    After the resin is cured, students will pop out their objects and clean them up by filing the sharp edges.

    Evaluation:

    4 points -- Neatness (no drips and mess as student mixes and pours)
    3 points -- Followed directions/mixed properly
    3 points -- Filed/sanded to a nice rounded smooth edge
    10 Points total
