International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards

  • 1. Empowered Learner -- Students leverage technology to an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goal, informed by the learning sciences.

    The teacher demonstrates how to use the injection mold machine.

    Students are to produce 3 injection molded parts from our pre-made molds and clean them up for final presentation.

    A video about injection molding is shown in class. An injection mold making video is also shown so students understand the process and expense involved in mold making.

    Finally, a short video about the production of Lego parts is shown (from the 50's and from the modern age). Evaluation:
    3 points -- Fully injected parts
    3 points -- Extra plastic cut up for recycling
    2 points -- Minimal warpage
    2 points -- Parts deflashed and cleaned properly for final presentation
