International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards

  • 1. Empowered Learner -- Students leverage technology to an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goal, informed by the learning sciences.

    Some Automobile companies still use clay models in their design process. A couple videos about car design are shown in class.

    The teacher hypothesizes that the Pontiac Aztec was a design done completely in the computer without a clay model being made because it's the second ugliest car ever produced.

    Hotwheels cars are shown as inspiration as well.

    Students are given a lego armature for them to build up their oil-based clay car body on.

    Evaluation:
    3 points -- Details included: windshield, doors, air intakes, brake lights, etc.
    3 points -- Creative design or accurate representation of a real car.
    2 points -- Wheels still roll
    2 points -- Lego "buck" or "Armature" cleaned up nicely
