International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards

  • 1. Empowered Learner -- Students leverage technology to an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goal, informed by the learning sciences.
  • 1a. Students articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
  • 1b. Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose and use/troubleshoot current technologies.
  • 1c. Student are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.
  • 2. Digital Citizen -- Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that safe, legal and ethical.
  • 2a. Students engage in positive, safe, legal and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using networked devices.

    As inspiration, students are shown professional photos that highlight our natural surroundings. Details of each photo are discussed in class, including Composition, Lighting, Focus, Color choices, Use of Additional help/assistants, etc.

    Students are to take 5,000,000 photos and turn in the best 10 as a PDF. (See instructions here to convert your photos to a 10 page PDF.)

    Two photos can be from the past, (like a vacation photo from last summer) but the rest must be taken for this project.

    Students should choose the photo they think is the best of their 10. That one will be printed and hung in the classroom. When all are hung, a discussion (critique) will take place about each photo and how successful it is or how it could be made better.

    We might vote on the best photo... (and there may be prizes for the winner)

    * As always, all photos must be taken by you.

    Evaluation:
    One point for each photo based on composition, color, lighting, staging/setup, creativity, followed directions etc.
