International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards

  • 1. Empowered Learner -- Students leverage technology to an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goal, informed by the learning sciences.

    After a brief discussion about the Art Element, "Emphasis", students are shown images of black and white photos that have one or multiple parts colored.

    The instructor demonstrates a technique for changing an image to black and while while still being able to recolor parts of it in class. Click here for instructions.

    Students are to take some pictures that have a good center of interest, convert it to black and white, then recolor a part to emphasize that center of interest. One photo will be turned in saved as a photoshop file (.psd).



    Evaluation:
    2 points -- Composition of photo
    3 points -- Clarity of Photo
    3 points -- Neatness/accuracy of black and white to color conversion/painting
    2 points -- Saved as a photoshop file with all layers intact
