The second Illustrator project focuses on the Pen tool. This tool is the most versatile drawing tool in Illustrator's palette but it comes with a steep learning curve.
The teacher demonstrates the pen tool's capabilities and how to use it in class as students follow along.
For this assignment, students are to find an image of a car that they like (Instructions on how to find high resolution images can be found here.) and use Illustrators tools to duplicate the car as accurately as possible.
This is an intensive assignment that usually takes over a week to complete satisfactorily so the point value has doubled. For student review, a set of video tutorials is provided below. (Scroll down)
Evaluation:
3 points -- Accurate representation of color
5 points -- Professional (no stray points or corners that don't come together)
5 points -- Accuracy (no wheels that are mis-aligned, etc.)
5 points -- Attention to detail (all parts and shades and colors are included)
2 points -- Saved as with your last name as an Illustrator file
