Drew (22 years old) and Rachel, Theo (20), Anissa (18) Therese (16) and Quinn (13) would like, along with myself and Karen, to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. Touch the images above to see how the kids have changed over the last 11 years. A quick update (Written by Karen for the Christmas letter we sent through the mail): Last year at Christmas we were preparing for Andrew and Rachel's wedding! They were married at St. Lukes Church in Clearwater, MN on a beautiful, windy day in May. We are so happy to welcome Rachel into our family. She is beautiful inside and out and makes Andrew so happy! Drew and Rachel reside in Fargo. Rachel is working as a landscape architect and Drew is finishing up his degree in mechanical engineering Drew had an internship at Marvin Windows over the summer, and continues to work for them as he completes his classwork at NDSU. Last year at Christmas we were planning a wedding shower, and this Christmas we are planning a baby shower! We can't wait to meet our new Grandson in February! Congratulations Andrew & Rachel! Theo is at UMD working on a degree in Biology with an Art minor. His plan is to finish up at St. Scolastica, with a nursing degree. He started a new job at a rehabilitation center down on Park Point in Duluth. He is not looking forward to the winter commute up and down the Duluth hills, but loves the job and the people he works with. Anissa graduated from Litchfield High School in May. She is currently at UND in Grand Forks pressing a degree in atmospheric sciences. She is our meteorology buff. It doesn't get any easier taking our kids to college! Our nest is feeling a little empty! Therese Therese is a junior at LHS and continues to make us proud with her generous spirit and work ethic. We were able to attend her swim meets this year, and enjoyed watching both of our girls compete, sometimes against each other : ) Therese was also involved in theatre, band and choir, singing with the Dragonaires this year. Quinn Quinn is in the 8th Grade at LMS. She is on the swim team for the Dragons and is a drummer in band. Quinn continues to entertain us with her beautiful piano playing and her movies! Gerry is now teaching art at Eden Valley Watkins school. He was sad to leave Sauk Rapids but the job at EVW allows us to stay in our house and the girls don't have to start at a new school. It was a hard decision for him to leave Sauk Rapids and the wonderful teachers and students who welcomed him, but EVW has been very good to him too, and the commute is much more manageable. Gerry received the official "Butter Sculptor" title at the state fair this summer as Linda Christensen handed over her butter knife at a ceremony outside of the butter booth at the state fair. Gerry's enjoying his 15 minutes of fame! And finally the part Karen failed to write in our letter: Karen continues to work as Director of Religious Education at St. Philip's Church. After delineating a clearer set of responsibilities, she's no longer putting in 50 hours a week for her 30-hour job. But, because she's related to her father, she still puts in alot of overtime. Like a former teacher told me, "You'll get your money's worth when you hire Jerry Thoma." The same can be said of his daughter, Karen! We are looking forward to a happy and healthy 2022 and wish the same for you! |
