Introduction to Robotics: Lego Mindstorms EV3

Students should open the Lego Mindstorms EV3 app on their computer and follow the initial directions, starting with "Try" (see screen shot below:)

When they've learned the basics of how to program the EV3 in the "Try" section, students should move on to the "Use" section and click the "open" button circled in the screen shot below:

When students reach page 3 of 9 they can start building by clicking the arrow circled below:

After completing the build students should experiment with programming the robot as seen in pages 4 and 5:

Additional modules are added to the robot on pages 6 and 7. Click the arrow circled below (in the Mindstorms EV3 App) for building instructions:

When students have finished building the last module they should program the robot to do something original (Do more than what the instructions give, perhaps add more actions and different sounds.) and show the teacher. Grades will be based on the following:

Evaluation:
4 points -- Robot accurately built according to the instructions
4 points -- Programmed with original actions that utilize the sensors included (beyond the instructions)
2 points -- Model taken apart and pieces put into appropriate bins in the EV3 box
10 Points Total
