Prophet

Since this is a fired clay sculpture, it needs to be hollowed out before firing. Sections are cut away and hollowed, then replaced and smoothed over. Sometimes I hollow sections as I go to facilitate even drying and to lighten the sculpt so I can lift it off the support pipe.
This is part of the arm. Notice the holes. Because I slap the clay together quickly when I sculpt, there may be trapped air bubbles.
Needle holes are poked inside after hollowing to vent any hidden air bubbles.
