To make a press mold, students sculpt a small object, usually in low relief, then pour plaster over the object to make a mold of it. When the mold dries the original is removed and clay may be pressed into the mold to create multiple images of the object. These "casts" may then be attached to sculptures or pots for decoration. The students are encouraged to think of a stamp and mold that they will want to use on future projects.
