Students are shown how to use a bowl as a press mold. First a layer of damp papertowels is layed in the bowl. Then pieces of clay are laid in the bowl and pressed together to make a pattern or design. When the clay is leather hard the bowl can be removed and the seams cleaned up.
This technique can be used as a way to easily support a large coil pot while the sides are built up higher.
