    • The teacher demonstrates how to make a lantern with a base out of slabs of clay. (The lantern top lifts off to provide easy access to the candle or tea-light underneath.) Decoration is added to the exterior and holes carved to provide ventilation as well as decoration.
    Evaluation:

    2 points -- Relief sculpted exterior decoration
    2 points -- Decorative holes cut through sidewalls
    3 points -- Base fits nicely
    3 points -- Clean smooth edges (especially where holes are cut through)
