    • Students are shown banners that have been made throughout the years and are asked to make a new Marathon Sign for the school. Students can work in groups or individually to design a banner/sign but will ultimately have to work as a team to paint the finished sign. Designs may be voted on to determine which will be produced on the 4X8 foot board.

    Small rectangle handouts are given with grids on them proportional to the 4 ft. by 8 ft. board. Students are to sketch out proposed designs on the rectangles. Voting takes place to determine which design is used for the board. (The school administration may be involved with this process as well.)

    Evaluation:
    4 points -- Proposed sketches on grid handout
    6 points -- Collaborative/cooperative work and Neatness of finished product.
