  • Light, quick sketching skills
    • Students can bring in three objects that they would like to draw, set them up in a nice arrangement, and draw them as accurately as possible. The teacher demonstrates how to compose the drawing on the paper by lightly sketching the general shapes of the objects first. Next the shapes are refined and details added. Finally shading is demonstrated using cross hatching techniques.

    2 points -- Composition of objects and use of paper.
    3 points -- Accurate proportions
    3 points -- Variety of tones used in shading
    2 points -- Contrast (good black areas and good white areas)
