Peter Fendt – Independent Bakery Owner – Quality Bakery, Fargo

 

E. Peter Fendt grew up baking with his father, Erwin Fendt, who owned the Quality Bakery in Fargo, North Dakota. Pete became a full time baker at Quality Bakery on March 1, 1973 and in 1982, he became part owner. Throughout the years of baking, Pete has gone above and beyond in his work. Pete owner of the Quality Bakery is a model independent baker.

 

Pete has many accomplishments in his career serving both as President and Past President on the Baker’s Association of North Dakota from 1996-2003. He served as President and Past President of that Association. From 1998-2007, he served on the Board of Directors for the Retail Bakers of America. He has also served on the Upper Midwest Board of Directors.

 

In 1997, Pete passed the Certified Master Bakers Test and shortly after began judging the test in various locations throughout the country. In 2000, he was awarded the North Dakota Baker of the Year for his hard work.

 

Pete has served on many committees. He became a member of the technical committee for the Commercial Baking Skills USA in 2002.He has been involved in testing since 2003. He was named the technical committee chair in 2008

 

In 2003, Pete reviewed a book for “Practical Baking.” In 2006, he became a member of the advisory committee for the Family and Consumer Sciences at the Fargo South High School in Fargo

 

Pete has attended countless conventions with the Minnesota Bakers Association, Upper Midwest Bakery Association, Bakers Association of North Dakota, and Retail Bakers Association. 

 

Pete is very involved in his community. He is a Certified Public Safety Diver and in 1993 started a dive team, Valley Water Rescue where he serves as president of the team. Recently, he was awarded “Honorary Hero” for his volunteer work for the North Dakota Sheriff’s Department. He is a Special Deputy for Cass County in North Dakota and Clay County in Minnesota.

 

The Lifetime Achievement Award from the Upper Midwest Bakery Association is well eaerned by Pete for his many contributions to the bakery world and community. He is willing to do anything that is asked of him in order to help those around him.
