Mr. Kulzer
Sculpture is all about making three-dimensional artwork. Heres a list of some of the things youll learn in this class:
- How to give Paper structural strength and create 3-d sculptures using paper.
- How sketches can help visualize a sculpture before you make it. Well use Lego blocks to illustrate this concept.
- Clay properties and clay construction methods. (coil, pinch, slab, potters wheel)
- Finishing clay projects with Glazes.
- Wire sculpture techniques
- Use of wire and plaster-cloth/paper mache to create puppets or monsters
- How to carve materials like wood to create sculpture.
Parents and students are encouraged to visit the LHS Art department web site at the address above to see more project examples. I usually choose a couple really cool projects from each class to add to the web site. Maybe, if you make some fantastic work of art in this class itll be posted on the web for the world to see!
Also, check out the Current section of the web site (www.lhsart.org/current.html). Parents and students can see what projects are being made. Evaluation sheets and examples of former student work are posted for each project that we do.
Grades are based on a percentage, 90% and up is an A, 80-89% is a B, 70-79% is a C and so on. Students get an evaluation form before the start of each project. The evaluation form states how the project is graded. Grades are never based on how hard students try. An in-depth discussion of this can be found at: www.kulzerdesign.com/lhs/philos.html. Cheating is extremely difficult to do in an art class, however, if one is caught copying other's artwork or doing the work for someone else, those students will not recieve credit for that assignment.
Class rules (The three Rs):
1. Respect Others
2. Respect Materials
3. Be Responsible
Now lets have some fun and make some art
