Photography
Mr. Kulzer
Historical observation of Photographs:
Printed below is a list of great photographers. Search the internet for samples of their work and choose two photographers whose work you admire. A small report (1 page) should be written about each. The following address contains links to many of the artists mentioned but search for other sites as well:
http://harrysproshop.com/Links/Great_Photographers/great_photographers.html
The report should include biographical information about the Photographer (Birth/death dates, where he/she is from, how he/she got into photography, other interesting facts about his/her life, etc.), his or her main line of work (Nature, war, people, journalism, animals, etc.), equipment used to produce his/her photographs, and anything else you believe is important about the people you chose. Do not copy the text from websites. Use your own words and summarize what you learn.
The final paragraph of your report should be a critique of the photographer's work. (What do you like about his/her general work? What specific photos do you like most and why? How will this photographer influence your photography?)
A minimum of 5 photographs from each Photographer must be included in the same folder as your report. Choose photographs that you speak about in your report and try to find good quality images of those photographs. No small 2"X2" thumbnails please.
Save each report and it's corresponding photos into a folder in the student drive on your desktop. (it might be good to make a "Photography" folder first so you don't get your stuff mixed up with video production and Computer graphics classes. When you're finished, print out the reports and the photo examples, staple them together and hand them in.
To save photos from the internet, Right Click the mouse (or hold the Control (ctrl) key down and click on the photo). Select, "save image to disk" Or "download image to disk". Save each photo to a folder in your Photo folder on the Student drive. Please take notes as to where you find each photo in case you need to revisit the site.
Evaluation:
2 points -- Report nicely written (spell checked, grammatically correct, etc.)
3 points -- Quality of the information included in the report
3 points -- Good representative sample of photographer's pictures included
2 points -- Followed directions
10 points for each report so this assignment is worth 20 points.
