Susan's team heard that she had a dream of getting her likeness carved in butter so they contacted me about performing during a team gathering in Minneapolis.
I carved some of it in the refrigerator, then transported it to the Prohibition Bar at the Foshay Tower in Minneapolis to perform (finish the sculpture) on-site.

Rough shape made from 55 lbs of butter. Much of the carved scrap has been added to the top to enhance the hair.
This is as far as I worked it before delivery. I figured that, during the performance, I could work for a couple hours at room temperature before the butter gets too soft to hold it's shape. So this represents about 2 hours of work left.
Susan was in tears as I unveiled the sculpture.
The finished sculpture.
After the event, Morgan Bowen (my Lyra contact coordinating things) wrote:
Hi Gerry!
Can I just say YOU WERE AMAZING! I hope you had as much fun as our team did last night. Thank you for working with me and my team and being willing to get this over the finish line.
Soon after, Susan wrote:
Gerry,
Just wanted to chime in and say thank you so incredibly much for making my childhood dream come true. My sculpture is now in my fridge and I cry every time I open the door and see it. I am hoping I can keep it in good shape till the 19th of this month and then am planning on sharing it with my neighborhood at our block party along with some crackers and bread :) ...
Thank you so much again!! Truly one of the best days of my entire life :)
Susan
