Using CAD software, Students are to make at least two objects that fit together. These must be made from scratch, not with pre-made "connectors" or "shape generators" or "bricks".
Some Examples:
2 gears
Puzzle pieces
Clip and knuckle
Chain links
Axel and bearing and wheel
The teacher illustrates how to use negative shapes or "holes" to produce pieces that fit together perfectly.
Students' work will be printed to proof the fit of each part.
Evaluation:
3 points -- Complexity (don't make it too simple)
4 points -- Parts fit nicely (loose or tight according to application)
3 points -- Printable (no closed hollows, nothing too thin, ect.
10 points total
