2 part 3-D print

Using CAD software, Students are to make at least two objects that fit together. These must be made from scratch, not with pre-made "connectors" or "shape generators" or "bricks".

Some Examples:
  • 2 gears
  • Puzzle pieces
  • Clip and knuckle
  • Chain links
  • Axel and bearing and wheel

  • The teacher illustrates how to use negative shapes or "holes" to produce pieces that fit together perfectly.

Students' work will be printed to proof the fit of each part.

    Evaluation:
3 points -- Complexity (don't make it too simple)
4 points -- Parts fit nicely (loose or tight according to application)
3 points -- Printable (no closed hollows, nothing too thin, ect.
