  • 1. Demonstrate knowledge of fractions as used in measurements.
  • 1a. Understand how to read metric and english ruler measurements.

    • Fractions are explained in class through the use of a ruler.

    The teacher shows a ruler on the board and explains what each mark represents, starting with the 1/2 mark. Sample measures are shown and discussed in class.

    Next worksheets [(quarter, eigth)] are handed out and students work on finding the correct measure for each problem.

    Adding and subtracting fractions are also covered in worksheets. After which a measuring test is given.
