    Dynamic Cartoon Faces

Geometric construction of 10 Cartoon Heads

Students are lead through a quick demonstration about how to make cartoons more expressive (Students follow and do what the instructor does on the board).

Starting with a "smiley face", students modify and change the smiley to be more and more expressive. A brief video outlining the basics of this process can be viewed by clicking here.

Students are to freehand draw (no tracing) two heads of existing cartoon characters they enjoy like Calvin and Hobbes or Bugs Bunny or a Simpson's character. Then they should create 8 original cartoon character heads of their own design.

    Evaluation:
2 points -- Accurate drawings of 2 existing characters
    3 points -- Originality/Creativity of 8 original Characters
    3 points -- Details included
    2 points -- Finished Layout
    10 points total.
